First World War Soldiers Profiles
If you take a stroll around the cemetery of Horfield Parish Church you will find several military war graves for local soldiers who lost their lives in the First World War. If you step inside the church, you will find a memorial to local soldiers who lost their lives, but whose bodies couldn't be returned home and their graves are overseas.
There are over 60 men commemorated on the war memorial inside the church, and 20 men buried in the churchyard - 19 of them from the First World War.
Using the names on these graves and memorials it is possible, using websites such as the Commonwealth War Graves Commission and Ancestry Institution, to find out more about the lives of the local men who fought for our country.
In the following sub-pages are the profiles of some of the soldiers who are remembered at Horfield Parish Church.
