Vernon Stanley Baker
Vernon Stanley Baker
was the son of William
Henry and Elizabeth Baker, of 87 Church Road, Horfield. His service records
show that he was attached to the RAF. He never made it overseas to serve,
instead he ‘Died at Home’ of pneumonia, in the Victoria Hospital Folkestone. As
he did not serve overseas, Vernon was not eligible for medals.
Vernon's headstone is rather grand and was probably erected by his family.
