Stanley Dennis Feaver
Stanley Dennis Feaver
was the son of Henry
Leonard and Phillis Matilda Feaver, of 32 Wellington Hill, Horfield. The 1901
and 1911 censuses tell us that he spent time in Hampshire and Yeovil when he
was growing up. Indeed, he enlisted in Yeovil, so perhaps this was him home
until his mother moved to Bristol. He had previously served as an infantryman
in the Royal Fusiliers, and it is likely that he went overseas after January
1916.
Stanley was killed on 21 March 1918, during the great German Spring Offensive on the Somme. More than 8,000 British soldiers were killed that day.
